WHY I'M RUNNING FOR LAFAYETTE CITY COUNCIL
My wife Jessica, our dog Dixie, and I moved to Lafayette in 2021 to build a life that embraces everything we love about Colorado, the outdoors, community, and a strong sense of belonging. From the start, Lafayette stood out to us not just for its natural beauty, but for its core values of inclusiveness, diversity, and respect for history.
As someone who grew up in New Orleans, where culture and community are deeply woven together, I immediately felt that Lafayette shared those same values in a uniquely powerful way. As a local realtor, I see every day how deeply housing, community development, and local business health are connected. Affordable housing isn’t just a policy issue. It's personal to me. It’s about ensuring that the people who make this city great can continue to live and thrive here.
I also believe Lafayette has incredible untapped potential in renewing our existing commercial spaces. Too many buildings sit vacant, when they could be reimagined into vibrant areas that support small businesses, bring amenities closer to residents, and generate revenue for the city. Focusing on redevelopment rather than new development not only strengthens our local economy, it also promotes sustainability and helps preserve the beautiful open spaces that make Lafayette such a special place to live.
My goal in running for City Council is to help guide Lafayette’s growth in a way that honors its values, supports its people, and strengthens its local economy, while preserving the welcoming, inclusive spirit that makes this community so special.
